Announcement: International seminar on the European financial sector regulations and the challenges for EU candidate countries

 

The EU-funded twinning project, Strengthening the regulatory and supervisory capacity of the financial regulators in Montenegro, is organising an international seminar on the European financial sector regulations and the challenges for EU candidate countries. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 22 March 2011, in Hotel Podgorica. The press are invited to attend the begging of the seminar from 09:30 to 10:10.

 

The seminar will be opened by the Minister of Finance Milorad Katnić, and the Head of the Political Section of the EU Delegation to Montenegro Clive Rumbold.  

The twinning partners of this project on the Montenegrin side are  the Central Bank of Montenegro, the Securities Commission and the Insurance Supervision Agency. On the EU side are Member States Bulgaria and the Netherlands – Bulgarian National Bank, Bulgarian Financial Supervision Commission and De Nederlandsche Bank.

The aim of the seminar is to familiarise the management of banks and non banking financial institutions in Montenegro with the EU requirements in financial sector in line with the preparation of Montenegro for EU membership.

Seminar participants will discuss on the progress achieved by Montenegro so far, together with the future plans for gradual harmonization with the EU Acquis Communautaire in financial sector.

The impact of the entire process on the financial sector in Montenegro will be assessed.
