Branko Barjaktarović
M. Sc. Branko Barjaktarović was born in 1980 in Podgorica. He finished elementary school, high school and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro in Podgorica. He has a master's degree in economic sciences with a thesis on investment risk management of insurance funds in the financial market.
He started his business career in 2004 in the Ministry of International Economic Relations and European Integration of the Republic of Montenegro in the Sector for Cooperation with International Economic Organizations (Department for the World Trade Organization - WTO) in charge of negotiations for Montenegro's accession to the WTO and monitoring free trade agreements initiated by the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe and the new multilateral agreement CEFTA 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he worked in the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Montenegro in charge of international economic relations and multilateral economic agreements. In 2009 he started working at the Insurance Supervision Agency on off-site and on-site supervision of the insurance market and preparing legislation for the insurance market. By the decree of the President of Montenegro he was appointed Advisor to the President of Montenegro for International Economic Relations in the period 2011-2013, where he performed tasks of macroeconomic analysis, cooperation with diplomatic and consular representatives in Montenegro, representatives of the Montenegrin and international business community and leading people of the state administration and municipalities. After 2013, he continued to work at the Insurance Supervision Agency, where he was twice elected as the Director of the Agency in public competitions in the beginning of 2021 and in the middle of 2023.
During his business career he actively trained and participated in numerous academies, conferences, seminars, round tables and working groups in the country and abroad on economic, financial and development topics.
He speaks fluent English.
